Perfect stay in the heart of the garden route

Reviewed 11 December 2011 NEW

Forget me not was one of our favourite stops during our South Africa trip. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Mary, who gave us loads of useful information without trying to sell anything. We were shown up to our room from the secure parking in the beautiful drive / front garden up to our room - the nest.

The room was great - big bedroom, nice big bathroom and very very spacious living area. A highlight was a great decking / balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens and pool with a lovely view out across Knysna and the lagoon / heads.

You're probably better with a car here - the local shop is very good and walk-able but we really enjoyed exploring the area by car - and recommend trips to Plett (try skydive plett and ocean safaris whale watching for a great day), Sedgefield and we also had a nice walk after a boat trip over to featherbed nature reserve. Knysna itself is great - lots of restaurants around town and the waterfront area especially - the best restaurant is 32 South - so good for lunch that we went back for dinner.

Mary and Derek were really lovely - probably the nicest people we met in SA! The breakfast they made was superb - fruits, eggs - whatever you want and a very tasty apple bran muffin. The pool and garden was really good place to chill at the start or end of the day.

One last thing - value. This was by far and large the best value guest house we stayed in during our trip, really reasonable price for the setting, quality and hospitality - would recommend this place to friends, parents - anyone really!

Everything about this stop on our trip was good - Thanks to Mary and Derek for a fantastic stay (don't forget to ask Mary about her time with the Beatles ;0)

What a great family retreat

We are a family of four. Our boys are 2 and 4 years old. The cottage was everything we could have wanted for - comfortable, clean and spacious. The boys enjoyed having a bath in the bathroom and not just a shower as so many establishments have.

They also enjoyed playing in the beautiful garden and we had a great braai and and dinner on our little deck. We found the cottage very centrally located and had lovely day trips from there

Stayed here for a week with my family and were made to feel very welcome by our wonderful hosts Mary and Derek. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and the location is excellent. No need to look anywhere else if you are going to the Knysna area.

Will Be Back | Forget Me Not | Knysna B&B | Knysna Self Catering | Knysna Accommodation

We definitely will be back!

It felt like home away from home. The views were terrific, accommodation splendid and the welcome was very warm. We felt at ease, relaxed and I have never slept so well in a strange bed ever.

The kids had a ball of a time and I liked the fact that it was in walking distance to all the convenient places we needed to be at. Mary and her husband made us feel welcome and we can say with confidence that we most definitely will be going back there soon.

The place is very beautiful, the garden was so quiet, peaceful and relaxing that we most definitely would like to experience it in summer. It comes highly recommended and I can confidently recommend it to family, friends and colleagues. Thanks for sharing your home with us at Forget-me-not:)

WONDERFUL!

Wonderful clean tasteful accommodation with glorious views. The unit is beautifully furnished with a private deck and ample space. We were warmly received when we arrived and showed to an immaculate unit. We were afforded total privacy while we were there and not disturbed at all.

The garden is pretty and the pool very inviting. Forget me knot has the best views in Knysna and is very conveniently situated. Also extremely well priced.

We will return

Back Again | Forget Me Not | Knysna B&B | Knysna Self Catering | Knysna Accommodation

We have been before & we will be back again!!

We were here a couple of years ago and have recently returned from a trip to South Africa . Our stay with Mary & Derek was a very pleasant part of our holiday - we enjoyed our chats with Derek as he served our breakfast & Mary sweated in the kitchen!! When we return to South Africa we will certainly return to "Forget-me-not".

Well appointed guest house

Knysna and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of attractions, from beautiful beaches to outstanding golf courses, thick forest, wildlife, adventure activities of all kinds, as well as excellent restaurants.

Forget-Me-Not is a very comfortable, well appointed guest house situated close to the Lagoon, with beautiful views and warm, welcoming hosts, Mary and Derek. Outstanding value!!

MARVELLOUS!

Reviewed 16 February 2012 NEW

Derek and Mary are such sweet hosts. Their bed-and-breakfast is tastefully decorated and located on a rise overlooking the Knysna estuary. We felt like we were on our honeymoon again. Everything about this place is just right. Truly - I can't think of anything bad to say.

Our party had the two upstairs apartments. Both were beautiful and so serene. We enjoyed the garden and chatting to our hosts. Do ask for their expert advice on the region. I would love to go back - we couldn't forget Forget-me-Not if we tried.

Fabulous Holiday

Reviewed 10 February 2012 NEW

What a fabulous time we had in Knysna and especially at Forget-me-not. We could hardly drag ourselves away from the beautiful views from Forget-me-not and the warm and friendly owners Derek and Mary. We found there was so much to do in the area if you are an outdoor person.

Walking with a Cheetah was one of the most spectacular events in our lives, feeding and riding elephants came a close second. All the beautiful beaches are nearly empty so no need to go early to "get your space". Mary and Derek pointed us in the right direction every day with appropriate places to visit and restaurangts to have dinner or breakfast if we wish.

I highly recommend staying at forget-me-not for a relaxed, peaceful holiday with loads to keep you busy if you have the energy!! Loved it all and we will be back.

Loved it - I want to go back!

The title says it all. What a place - I loved it and I want to go back! We stayed there in early January. We were 2 adults and 2 children. We stayed in the upstairs apartment and the view was amazing. I just wanted to sit on the deck and look at the view.

The apartment was very comfortable. A seperate room for the adults and a pull out bed for the children in the lounge - it was actually one bed with a pull out underneath it so they each had a seperate bed. They were very comfortable.

There was a fully equipped kitchen - it even had a coffee machine!

It is set in a lovely garden with a swimming pool. The deck off the room had a table and chairs so we could eat on the deck.

The bathroom was a bit old but it was fine. There was a seperate bath and shower.

It is close to everything. I will definately go back again some day.

Never Disappointed at Forget-Me-Not

Reviewed 3 February 2012 NEW

We have visited the Garden Route several times and enjoy every return visit better than the last. Forget-me-not is situated in the centre of the Garden Route, so short drives took us everywhere without wasting our days moving to other guest houses along the coast.

You can also relax in their lovely garden, cool of in the swimming pool and have a braai under the stars at night. From our deck in the Nest we had fabulous views of the Knysana Lagoon, Knysna Heads and surrounding area. Mary and Derek had great suggestions on how to spend our days and where to eat at night, they are so friendly and welcoming that we are now repeating our visits as 'Family'

The units are spacious, serviced every day, whish is unusual for self catering units, if you would like breakfast prepared for you and served on your own private deck that is available as well. Northing is too much trouble and we felt cared for and special. If we are able to take another holiday in the Garden Route, Forget-me-not would be our first choice for accommodation, and ease if to explore the Garden Route. You will not be disappointed!
